As the mother of four children, Ms. Whelan-Megley understands how challenging parenting can be, even under the best of circumstances. For more than 20 years, Ms. Whelan-Megley has dedicated her career to supporting and empowering families impacted by behavioral health needs; recognizing the fact that overcoming obstacles can ignite hope, provide the foundation for personal growth, and offer one the opportunity to give back to others.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Whelan-Megley has been awed by the resilience of the families and communities we partner with. She is committed to achieving equitable social and health outcomes, and champions the capacity of individuals with lived experience to inspire others and transform systems for the better.

Ms. Whelan-Megley received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, and is currently completing a Master of Science in Public Management and Urban Policy Analysis from The New School. She has been a fellow of the Georgetown University-Center for Juvenile Justice Reform, and currently sits on the board of the Harrison Youth Council. She has spoken nationally about the impact, power, and importance of family support.

Having started as a social work intern, Ms. Whelan-Megley became Executive Director of Family Ties in 2016. She has the honor of being Family Ties’ longest serving staff member and credits her extended Family Ties “family” for helping her raise her own.
